The Reckoning Project (TRP) is honored to announce the appointment of Ambassador Peter Galbraith, distinguished American diplomat, author, and longtime advocate for human rights and international accountability, to its Advisory Board.
Ambassador Galbraith brings decades of experience in diplomacy, conflict resolution, and international justice. As the first U.S. Ambassador to Croatia, he helped negotiate the Erdut Agreement that ended the war in Croatia and contributed to negotiations leading to the Washington Agreement and Dayton Accords. He also advocated for the establishment of an international criminal tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, collected evidence of war crimes, and later testified in four cases before the ICTY.
Galbraith has held senior positions with the United Nations in Afghanistan and East Timor and spent 14 years on the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee. His work has spanned conflicts from the Balkans and Iraq to Afghanistan and Syria. Since 2013, he has undertaken mediation efforts involving Syrian Kurds, the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, and the Syrian opposition, while also working to reunite Yazidi women enslaved by ISIS with their children.
