The Reckoning Project Joins Global Call for Independent Access to Gaza

June 9, 2025
Joint Statement

Supporting Universal Press Freedom and Journalist Protection

The Reckoning Project has joined over 120 global media and human rights organizations in signing an open letter demanding immediate, independent access for journalists to Gaza.

The statement, coordinated by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and Reporters Without Borders (RSF), urges the Israeli government to lift its ongoing restrictions and to uphold its legal obligations to protect journalists under international law.

As TRP continues its work documenting war crimes in Ukraine and supporting legal pathways to justice, we call on our partners, supporters, and the broader international community to stand with us in defending the principles that must apply equally.

TRP's decision to sign this letter reflects its belief in the importance of solidarity among conflicts and journalists working to cover those conflicts. When access to truth and protections for journalists are upheld selectively, it erodes the universality of human rights and undermines efforts toward accountability everywhere—whether in Kyiv, Gaza, or beyond.
